Finger Food/Snacks
PINWHEELS
Ingredients:
1 can - refrigerated crescent roll dough
½ cup - soft cream cheese either plain or savory flavored
Sliced deli meat of choice... no amount given but enough for four rectangles of dough... so maybe 8 thin slices if you do two slices each
½ cup - vegetables of choice... finely chopped red or green bell pepper, finely chopped broccoli or spinach leaves, to give about 2 tablespoons per piece of dough.
Lastly chopped herbs... the recipe mentions dill, basil or rosemary but I think others would work as well. You wouldn't want as much of the herbs.... maybe a teaspoon or so per piece of dough.Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Separate the dough into four rectangles; press perforations to seal.
Spread each rectangle with about 2 tablespoons soft cream cheese... either plain or your favorite savory flavor as in the ingredients list.
Top with your choice of sliced deli meat and/or vegetables (such as chopped red or green bell peppers, finely chopped broccoli, spinach leaves... whatever sounds good) and/or chopped herbs (such as dill, basil leaves, rosemary... that sort of thing)
Starting at short side, roll up each rectangle, press edges to seal.
Using serrated knife, cut each roll into 6 slices.
Place cut side down on un-greased cookie sheet.
Bake for 13 to 17 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
I always line my cookie sheets with parchment paper... it makes clean up so much easier!
