Dirt Cake
From Tina Jacques

Ingredients

1 medium sized flowerpot – 8 inch in diameter or 2 smaller pots.
1 Garden trowel
Gummy worms
Tacky plastic flowers.

1 16 or 20 oz package of Oreo Cookies
˝ cup (I stick) of butter or margarine – softened
1 8 – oz package of cream cheese
1 cup icing sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 4 – oz serving package of instant vanilla pudding
1 4 – oz serving package of instant chocolate pudding
2 cups milk
1 12 oz tub of Cool Whip – thawed

Directions

1. Crush cookies
2. Cream butter, cream cheese, icing sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
3. Combine the pudding mixes with the 3 cups milk until well blended. Fold in Cool Whip, then gently fold in the cream cheese mixture.

Now you have 2 bowels of stuff.

To assemble:

  1. To put the cake together, layer one third of the cookie crumbs, followed by ˝ of the creamed mixture.

  2. Layer another third of the crumb mixture, followed by the rest of the creamed mixture.

  3. Top with the last third of the crumb mixture.

  4. Throughout this cake, place gummy worms in the crumb mixture. At the top maybe have a couple peeking out.

  5. Refrigerate for 8 to 10 hours – however I have used this within 2 hours of mixing it, and it just hasn’t flavored together as much – still yummy.

  6. Before serving, insert the tacky flowers, and serve with your garden trowel. Makes 10 to 12 delicious servings.

Notes: You can diddle around with some of these things to suit your taste. Like your instant pudding could be all vanilla or all chocolate. All this stuff tastes good by itself so it’s hard to spoil the recipe.

The crushed Oreos look kind of like plant pot dirt, so when you serve this dessert, you can make up a story, like how much you liked to eat dirt as a kid, and they should try it to see if they liked it as much. If you haven’t done this before, your guests will be flabbergasted
