Father of the Year !  What a wonderful label.   All Father's
deserve that sort of recognition.  Unfortunately some men
just do not measure up to the task of being a Father.
Of vast majority of men that do measure up, some are submitted in the My Dad Essay contest.

Of those submitted we had to choose just one.
A heavy burden

but carried with love and appreciation for the feelings and
the pride shown in each of the following final entries.

Why My Dad Is The Greatest

A lot of people think their dad is the greatest in the world. But the true fact is that mine is the best. In the world in the universe mine is the best. You could look it up in any book you want and it will say the best father ever is Rama Kant Dawar. I have loads of reasons for my dad being the greatest but if I wrote them all down it would take up one million pages. So now I’ll only write three reasons. Which are the following, my dad takes me to fun places like Bass Lake. My dad loves me and cares for no matter what I do, and is always proud of my achievements. The lat but not least reason why my daddy is the greatest I’m going to tell you is my dad works really, really extra hard. Quadruple the times as the average dad. Those are my reasons as to why my dad is the greatest dad.

One reason my dad is the greatest is because he takes me to fun places. It’s only been a couple years since my mom remarried, and my dad has taken me to many places. The first place my dad took my sisters and myself to was Home Town Buffet. He took my sisters and I there twice, once when it was my sisters 14th birthday on November 28, 2001. Another time just to have fun and eat till we got full with no extra cost. My dad took my family and myself to Bass Lake. We’ve been there twice just like we’ve been to Home Town Buffet two times. The first we went there we just went to have some fun and to splash in the water and do fun things. The second time we went out on a boat, which was on Father’s Day, we went there with my dad’s cousin my favorite relatives. Another place he took me to is Disneyland.

The second d reason why my dad is the greatest is my dad he loves me no matter what I do. He is also always proud of my achievements even if they’re big or small. No matter how much trouble I get in my dad still loves me. When I get in a lot of trouble I barely get in trouble. I also get plenty of achievements. Like Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance or anything related to that. He’s also glad every time I make a team in school as when I made the basketball team and when I made the volleyball team he always let me play the sports I wanted to play. Even basketball where you could get hurt playing which a lot of people did get hurt cause you have to be tough and strong to play very good, also to be the top player of the team, or player of the game. Most parents wouldn’t let there children play basketball cause it’s rough for them.

The last but not least reason I’m going to tell you why my dad is the greatest is because he works very hard compared to other dads. My dad works very hard every day. He gets up at 4:00a.m. but doesn’t sleep till around 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m. He works all day and all night, he barely gets any rest at all. Around a couple hours per day and is always tired. My dad is also barely home and when he is home he’s in his office on the computer or on the phone. My dad is a Yoga instructor, an interpreter, works for the mental hospital, he works for other people that need help with some problems, he works for the County of Fresno, and much, much more than what I said. If I wrote down everything that he does it would take up 10,000 pages just for that. My dad also helps people by comforting them when they’re not feeling good. My dad also wan
very smart, he has a lot of general knowledge more than an average father. That’s my last but not least reason I’m going to tell you why my dad is the greatest.

So as you can see I have some pretty good reasons why my dad is the greatest in the world. The first I told you why my dad was the greatest was because he takes me to fun and very exciting places. Like Disneyland, Pismo Beach, and Bass Lake and other places like that. My second reason for my dad being the best is he cares about me and loves me no matter what I do. He is also always proud of my achievements when I get any. My last but not least reason I told you my dad is the greatest is he works very hard all day and almost every night. As you can tell I have some very good reasons why my dad I think should be father of the year. I can’t put it all in words but I did the best I could. I love my dad and he loves me. There’s one really special thing about my dad, that he is the greatest in the world.

My dad .................
There are many words that describe my dad.....................
but only one surpasses them all.............
he is a wonderful, kind, loving father, who fought my mom to get us kids during there divorce. I will never forget the day my mom took us away from my dad to her parents home in Arizona. We lived in Iowa at the time, and I did not want to leave my dad. You could say that I'm a dadies girl, and I'm proud of it. He's always been there throught the good times and the bad.............. and I love him for it, because he has shown me that he will always be there no matter what, and to never to be afraid to ask for help, no matter what the problem is, he'll always be there. He has taught me that if you belive in something long enough or trust in yourself enough, you can go the distance, no matter what the odds are against you. There is always a way , you just have to look at it the right way.

I have not seen my mom in 3 years, but I have found that I can live without my mom. My dad showed me that after thier divorce. I still don't see why my mom would give my father up without giving him another chance. But the problem was my mom could not handle my dad drinking all the time. So she fled. After wecame back to live with my dad, he was sobber for almost 8 months. He does not drink that much anymore. And I'm very proud to be his daughter. When ever his buddies see me they say "are you cleveland's daughter?" and I say ya that's me. They just laugh, and say that I look just like him.thanks dad for everything. I love you !
